Are you a person who likes to do more than make financial donations to worthy causes? Hands-on projects connect us to others in ways that financial donations cannot. The following list captures some of the actions that we support on an on-going or as-needed basis at CBUC. Perhaps you have an outreach project that you would like us to consider?  We’d love to hear about it and explore the possibilities! Creating a local and global community where everyone is welcome and everyone has enough will always be one of our most important outreach goals.

Here are some examples of the kinds of in-house service projects we do.

• Thanksgiving sock drive for Project Connect, a yearly service fair with the Greater Victoria Coalition to End Homelessness  that connects those living in extreme poverty or on the streets with service providers and agencies.
• Fresh Fruit Sunday– bring your donations of fresh fruit to the church on the first Sunday of every month. An apple a day keeps the doctor away. Yeah!
Saturday Movie Night– On the second Saturday of the month CBUC hosts a movie night at Our Place. For more information on how you can be involved in this project, contact Mark or Meghan.
• Angel Gifts during Advent– Each November, an opportunity is offered to purchase a gift for a member of the OUR PLACE family to receive at their Christmas party. A tree in our entrance way will have cards with the age and gender of a person living on the streets and you are asked to take one, purchase an appropriate gift, wrap it and return it with the card to the church. Share a little Christmas cheer each year.
• Meal Offering – Several times during the year, members of our community prepare and serve dinner for our inner city family members. You’d be most welcome to help us with this act of service. For more information, contact Mark or Meghan
• Bake and sell muffins on the last Sunday of every month. Monies collected go to support the work of the Stephen Lewis Foundation and its fight against HIV/AIDS.
